Pelvic Health Programs

A pelvic health program is designed specifically to treat patients faced with pelvic health issues.

The pelvis is a complex system, and sometimes it does not perform as it should. The pelvic floor is made up of ligaments, organs, and supportive structures in both men and women. When any part of this system fails or weakens, it can be painful, embarrassing and inconvenient. Additionally, some pelvic health issues can lead to other health problems if not treated. However, specialized treatment is available.

Common conditions treated in a pelvic health program include: sexual dysfunction, urinary incontinence, uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, vaginal/pelvic inflammation and pain, abnormal pap smears, and interstitial cystitis.

A pelvic health program is normally a subset of a larger medical group. The specialists performing treatment can include therapists, urologists, gynecologists and obstetricians. A good pelvic health program can help a patient at any life stage by providing education, assessments, exercise classes, physical therapy, inpatient and outpatient surgery under the care of a qualified therapist or physician.

Pelvic health issues are more common than you might think, and are often clouded with the misconception of what is considered “normal”. With education and the help and treatment of a pelvic health program, a patient can regain intimacy, strength, and confidence.
